At Fight for Better Tomorrows, there are six things we believe to be true. These are non-negotiable statements. They are rooted in fact – not opinion – and therefore cannot be changed. They are:
You have a mental illness, but you are not your mental illness. You are kind, smart, funny, compassionate, motivated, thoughtful, talented...the list goes on. Your mental illness doesn't – and will never – define you.
Your brain will lie to you. It will tell you that no one loves you or that the world would be better without you in it. Those things are not true. Your life matters. You mean so much to so many people. Even on your bad days, your worst days – you are loved, wanted and needed.
We believe in talking about the topics no one wants to or feels comfortable talking about – like mental illness, self-harm, suicide, substance use disorders, eating disorders, recovery and self-care. We believe that stigma and shame grow in silence, and we will not be silent.
While we're not doctors or therapists ourselves, we can certainly point you in the right direction to help you find the resources you need. Simply fill out the form, and we'll get back to you in 24-48 hours. Promise.
If you're feeling suicidal or that you might hurt yourself (or someone else), please call 911 immediately. If you're experiencing a less severe crisis and need someone to talk to, here are a few helpful resources.
